Textiles: Centuries in the Making

Purveyors of regally recycled antique textile pillows, unique finds, and more.

Our Mission

Established in 1994, we are committed to preserving, repairing and/or repurposing centuries old pieces for the enjoyment of all.

About Rebecca

In today’s interior design community, Rebecca Vizard is considered a visionary for her innovative use of rare and beautiful antique textiles. Her pillows are distinguished by their elegant compositions of unusual elements and their exquisite hand-sewn craftsmanship.

About The Studio

While sourcing for an interior design job in New York City in the early 1990s, Rebecca decided to make her first antique textile pillow. She scoured a flea market and found a gold filigreed curtain panel and the trim from a tattered vestment; using the two, Rebecca created a more clean-lined alternative to what was available and her pillow was an instant hit.

Textiles 101

Traditionally completed by female members of a family, the construction of a suzani typically begins with the birth of a daughter. Strips of fabric, often cotton or silk, are loosely sewn together for an artist to sketch an overall design. The show stopping final result was considered part of the daughter’s dowry and used to decorate for weddings and celebrations.

Come Visit Us!

Opened in early 2016, our “Global Headquarters” offers a full glimpse into all things B. Viz Design. The lifestyle collection includes items like collected artworks, antiques, textiles and lighting as well as clothing, jewelry and accessories for everyone.

Rebecca together with her daughter Sarah, opened our New Orleans storefront in late 2018. Sharing a tony double shotgun with the venerable antique shop, Balzac, it is here where most of our pillows are housed.

About Global HQ

Formerly a bank building in the no stoplight town of St. Joseph, LA (population just over 1,000), Rebecca initially purchased the space to offer a little retail therapy and provide a little economic boost to her hometown. In the years since, several other businesses have opened, including a women’s boutique, pottery store and more is on the way!
